Device Integration Glossary
A concise glossary for common device-integration terms used in technical evaluation.
Device integration
Delivering device knowledge, access, diagnostics, topology, and lifecycle information to a host system.
FDT
A technology standard for field-device and host-system integration; here it describes legacy FDT assets, migration, compatibility, and DTM hosting.
FDI
Field Device Integration, a device-package and device-description integration path. Versions and support follow product specifications.
DTM
Device Type Manager, an FDT component that carries device access, parameter, diagnostic, or interface capabilities according to product and device conditions.
EDD / EDDL
Electronic Device Description / Electronic Device Description Language for device parameters, structures, and interaction information.
OPC UA
An industrial interoperability interface often used to standardize device data for upper-level systems; interface and security scope require confirmation.
PA-DIM
A process-automation device information model that can help upper-level systems understand device-data semantics.
Unified Device Server (UDS)
The formal product name in the M&M device-integration portfolio; UDS is an abbreviation, not a separate formal Chinese product name.
PoC
Proof of Concept; a bounded feasibility check, not a project commitment or acceptance result.
Reading boundary
Product names remain formal English names. Capability, version, compatibility, interface, performance, and system requirements require product specifications.
